Actus reus: a voluntary act or an omission where there is a legal duty to act.
MPC mens rea hierarchy: purposely, knowingly, recklessly, negligently (descending).
First-degree murder: premeditation and deliberation.
Felony murder: death during the commission of an inherently dangerous felony (BARRK: Burglary, Arson, Robbery, Rape, Kidnapping).
Voluntary manslaughter: intentional killing in the heat of passion with adequate provocation.
Self-defense: reasonable belief in imminent threat of unlawful force; force must be proportional.
